Nānmugan Tiruvandādi — Tirumazhisai Āzhvār (Pāsurams 71–80)

Tirumazhisai Āzhvār opens this set by dismantling false security. Structures, systems, and strength do not sustain life by themselves. Stability arises only through grace, whether acknowledged or not. அறிவு துணை என நினைத்த காலம் கடந்தது அறிவு எல்லை காட்டியது அருள் துணை சேர்ந்தபின்னே அறிவே அமைதி கண்டது. Intellect matures when it accepts its boundary. Grace does not erase reason; it settles it. The verse reflects intellectual humility born of experience. நான்முகன் உலகைச் செய்தான் என்றாலும் நான்முகன் தானே அவன் செயல் நாராயணன் முதலாய் நின்றான் நான்முகன் அவன் கருவி என்றேன். Creation is clarified as an act of the Supreme through instruments. Even the highest roles are functional, not independent. The verse reinforces spiritual order. பல தெய்வம் பலன் தரும் என்றால் பல ஆசை பெருகும் ஒருவன் ஒன்றே என்றால் உள்ளம் ஓய்வு பெறும். Desire multiplies with fragmentation. Unity simplifies the heart. Tirumazhisai Āzhvār shows how clarity reduces inner noise. கண்ணால் காணும் உலகம் மாறும் கண்ணுக்கு மறையும் உண்மை நிலை பெறும் மாறும் ஒன்றில் மயங்காதே நிலை பெற்றதை சார்ந்தேன். Impermanence defines perception; permanence defines truth. The verse urges the seeker to anchor in what does not change. அளவிட முயன்ற அறிவு சோர்ந்தது அளவில்லாதனை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டேன் ஏற்றுக்கொண்டபின்னே அமைதி தானே வந்தது. Peace is not manufactured; it arrives through acceptance. The verse teaches surrender without emotional excess. உலகம் அவனை விட்டு இல்லை என்றால் உலகம் துன்பம் ஏன் தரும் அவனை மறந்த நினைவே துன்பம் என்று கண்டேன். Suffering is traced to forgetfulness, not punishment. Remembrance restores equilibrium gently. நான் என்ற உணர்வு நின்றபோது நீ என்ற உண்மை மறையும் நான் அகன்றபின்னே நீ முழுதாய் நின்றாய். Ego obscures truth. When self-centeredness fades, clarity fills the space entirely. அறிவு அறிந்தவன் பெரிதல்ல அறியாததை ஒப்புக்கொண்டவன் பெரிது அறியாமை உணர்ந்தபின்னே அருள் தானே சேர்ந்தது. Humility crowns wisdom. Grace responds to honesty, not display. Tirumazhisai Āzhvār remains uncompromising here. இதுவே நெறி இதுவே நிலை இதுவே தெளிவு இதுவே பயன் இதுவே அவன் அருள் செய்த பத்து இதுவே எனக்கு என்றும் விளக்கு. The tenth pāsuram seals this set. The lamp of discernment continues to burn—calm, clear, and unwavering. These ten pāsurams further stabilize the fourth lamp of the Divya Prabandham. Tirumazhisai Āzhvār’s voice now feels settled into certainty, where truth no longer needs repetition for conviction, and devotion expresses itself as clarity.
